Texas Instruments Announces 6-core DSP Device

On the same day as the announdement for their tri-core DSP for W-CDMA (see posting below), Texas Instruments announces a six core DSP device called the TNETV3020.  This device is aimed at video and audio applications.

Texas Instruments has announced the TMS320TCI6488, which contains three TMS320C64x+ cores and is targeted at W-CDMA base stations.  The device operates at 1 GHz and also contains Viterbi and Turbo coprocessors.  The announcement’s subtitle also describes it as a replacement for ASICs and FPGAs.

P.A. Semi Announces Dual-core PA6T-1682M

P. A. Semi has announced its low-power dual PowerPC core device, the PA6T-1682M.  The device boasts less that 15 W power consumption at 2 GHz.
